American singer Tony Bennett starred in a concert with the London Philharmonic Orchestra
American singer Tony Bennett starred in a concert with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at Londons Royal Albert Hall on Sunday (31-1-71). Wielding the baton at the charity concert, in aid of the L.P.O. appeal fund, was Bennetts friend Robert Farnon. The first part of the concert was devoted to light classical music written by Farnon. In the second half, Bennett sang twenty of his hit songs, backed by 90 musicians: the entire L.P.O. less its woodwind sections combining with 15 of Londons leading jazz players.
